Art of War by Sun Tzu

Although The Art of War by Sun Tzu isn’t classic fictional literature, I have always wanted to read it. Since I had decided to get through 20 classics this year, this small volume seemed like a good choice. Although I can draw no practical use from the book, I plan on using some of his philosophy at helping me in playing one of my favorite computer games, Civilization. I’ve been playing that game for years, and it is one of the few computer games I have any interest in.

It is interesting, however, how such a dated book can still have such practical application to warfare. It seems that little has changed in the general idea of warfare since the beginning of time. Technological advances can just be added to the general framework that Sun Tzu laid out. I found this to be a very enlightening book on ancient ideas and philosophies concerning war.
